Breeding

Breeding is a key game mechanic in My Dream Pony. To breed you will need (2) adult ponies one female and one male. There are no restrictions on which breeds can be paired. You can mix and match however you'd like or keep your bloodlines purebred using only one breed of pony.

When you breed ponies together the following colors of the parents:
  1. coat color
  2. hair color I
  3. hair color II
  4. eye color
  5. accent color I
  6. accent color II
will be individually mixed together. The mixing logic is still in development but I will update it here when I've ironed out a prototype. However, ideally you will randomly get a color close to the dam, the sire, or something in between. Like the graident graphic below shows.

Starter Ponies

Starter ponies. You can't have a breeding game without new blood for your bloodlines. Starter ponies will be ponies you can generate using the pony generator that have no parental lineage. Which will make them the ultimate asset in your stable for starting new breeding projects. These ponies can be generated using the crystal heart currency that you can earn playing the game.

You will not be gauranteed to generate the exact starter pony you'd like. You also will not be able to generate a starter pony that shows more than (1) special trait. You can however generate a starter pony that carries multiple traits and the attempt to create offspring that shows multiple traits.

In the generator you can select colors for the sire and dam of your starter pony. However, the catch is that the color lists are restricted. Which means you'll need to mix two colors and take a chance at getting the color combination you desire. Currently the color restrictions for each pony parent are as follows:

Special Traits

Special traits are currently marking only they only add a pattern or coloring to the pony and do not change the base lineart. These help you to create unique pony styles but can also be based to offspring while breeding.

Each pony only has the following slots for traits(Possibly more to come):
  1. Face Traits
  2. Hair Traits
  3. Body Traits
A pony can carry more special traits than it shows, but for each slot you can only have one visible special trait. For example in the figure below #1 is not possible it shows a hair fade and a hair streak which would be two visible traits in the hair slot. #2 and #3 are both possible because only one hair trait is visible.

Trait Dominance

Similarily to biology there will be trait Dominance. Trait dominance will determine which trait is more likely to be inherited when ponies are bred. Dominance order will follow chronologically with the older traits being most dominant.
